5.3L

Hey all....what was first year for 5.3L? According to CarMax's webpage this 2000 I was lookin' at, has the 5.7. Sound right?

nope 2000 would be 4.8 5.3 6.0 or diesel. I'm not sure if the 6.0 was available for a stanard 1500. Somebody else probably knows.

I'd really like to get my hands on 6.0L in the short cab, short box....that could be fun.

In 99 and 2000 you could still get the C/K classic (OBS) trucks that had the 5.7s.

99 was the last yr of the old body style trucks except for the 3500 (hd) which was still being produced and it had the 7.4 V-8 i believe

the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks went up to 2000 and had the 350 (5.7)

My friend has a '00 old body style K2500 with the 7.4L in it. I'm guessing that the 5.7L is the standard motor in this truck.

 

All the new body style trucks would have 4.3L, 4.8L or 5.3L in the 1500 series from 1999-up.

I have a NBS 2002 Silverado with the 5.7 Vortec, this was only for export trucks to Mexico and Saudi Arabia.

The Tahoe and Suburban had this engine as well

2002 5.7? Wonder what kinda hp that thing produces. If the 02' 5.3 was 285, I'd emagine over 300 from the 350.

The 1999 model year was the first for the 4.8 & 5.3. You could have either body style that year, the old had the 5.7, the new, had the 5.3.
