I wasn't aware the Conroe had seceded from the United States! Considering that all I mentioned in my post is controlled by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the only way to avoid their control is to not be part of the U.S. Texas state government has voluntarily endorsed and complied with FMCSA guidelines. So that can only mean that Conroe decided to form it's own country. Next step I suggest.... apply for foreign aid from the U.S. You might just get it!

You can't seen to get through your head that going 70 MPH ( the speed limit ) is ok.

No.... you can't get it thru your head that many commercial heavy trucks cannot go the speed limit of 70. That is what this was about. I really don't care if the speed limit is 100. That is not relevant, as not once did I state that going the speed limit was wrong in some way and you know that is true. Sure, going the speed limit is ok. I only outlined per the discussion that many commercial trucks couldn't go 70 if they wanted to, except maybe on a downgrade with a heavy load to push them.

As you know heavy trucks are 26K lbs and higher. And yes there is a proposal to limit their speed to 65-68. And most trucks can exceed 65 in that weight class, again I see it every day. Otherwise there would be no need for the pending proposal. I can see the point for it. I stated what I see in the south. You said you stay within 500 mile of your home base that's great, my travels in the southern area mostly are the Carolinas to Florida to Texas, they ain't lined up doing 65. Get down there you'll see. Done, over and out, 10-4

Didn"t think I could afford it, but it was a left over 2016 that had amazing discounts.

It's the LT model with the all-star package, chrome nerf bars, and Nav.

Sticker was $49K got it for $30K wich is less than the $31k I paid for the '15 2wd double cab I traded in!!!

I love the 2500! I will level it and put 35's on it when the stock 17's are wore out.

Also want to put the tow mirrors on it. That's about it for mods.

Will post pics soon...

Congrats! I hope your truck gives you many hundred thousand trouble free miles and never veers off course as bad as this thread has!! :)

Are you also aware, that such proposals were put in the minds of politicians but the (so-called) Alliance for Trucker Safety and Security, which is a lobbying front group for a bunch of carriers that have voluntarily limited themselves to 65 mph and just don't like it that other trucks might be able to deliver freight quicker than they can? Knight Transportation, JB Hunt, KLLM, Maverick, US Xpress, and Dupre.

Until these idiots (along with the ATA and TCA) started leveraging politicians about a nationwide mandated speed limiter thing, no one was giving it any thought.

Just because I have developed a more refined and profitable operating area of a 500 mile radius of my current home, does not mean I have not covered the entire 48 states commercially, including 10 full years continuous driving in Alaska. I used to do TX a heck of alot, running in and out of McAllen, El Paso, Laredo, Del Rio, etc. And racked up a lot of miles running I-10 from the east coast to California. Even used a terminal that I frequented often in Lancaster (DFW).

Folks may not be "lining up" to do 65, a large portion have voluntarily jumped on the 65 or less bandwagon. And FMCSA regulations apply to all commercial vehicles of 10001 lb or more on everything else, and even less if hauling some form of hazardous material commercially, including a Fiat sub compact.
