22 inch wheel ride quality?

I bought the CK375 wheels in 22s and the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 285/45/22 tires. My truck had 18 inch wheels with cooper discovery tires that came on it. I have a 2013 Sierra crew cab Z71 and to me it seems like these tires are hard as a rock. I called Nitto and had them tell me what psi to run them at for my vehicle, still hard to me. I have had low pro tires before. the tires look great and aren't very loud at all on the highway. I live in Indiana and the roads are rough here but damn these tires seem to jar my whole truck when I hit bumps. Anybody else run 22s but with a different tire, what was the ride quality like?

Comes with the territory. 22" tires are neck breakers.

Good to know. I always thought the bigger the tire, the smoother ride.

Yea your logic is somewhat correct. Generally the taller the sidewall, the smoother the ride, but with everything there is diminishing returns there as well. That particular sized 22" tire is not going to ride very smooth, you will feel every bump. My cousin has an Avalanche with stock 22" rims and street tires and I can tell a big difference in ride quality compared to my truck with 20" rims.

yea, bigger tire = more cushion.

Bigger wheel = less tire & less cushion.

I test drove a 2017 Denali Ultimate with the stock 22" wheels. I was shocked at how well it rode after hearing otherwise. It didn't ride any worse than my stock 20" all terrain wheels.
