2015 sound quality

My first impressions with my new to me Silverado LTZ as far as the radio goes... It's not the Bose for some reason but I will have to say it's light years ahead of the 2011 base radio. Great mid bass, gets fairly loud too. Anyone know the power specs these radios put out? Is there a amp somewhere in the truck? It's the non Bose noise cancelling head unit.

I'm thinking about trying to add some low thump to the truck. Maybe a kicker soundstage or similar. I want plug and play as much as possible. Just wondering about the noise cancelling feature it has when you have the 6.2.

Im not a head banger by any means but my stock radio stinks. Have to turn the volume up 3/4 of the way to get much sound and then it starts to get distorted. The stock radio in my 2007 F-150 was 10 times better

I don't know.. My 07's stereo was absolutely terrible. Very destorted, blew the rear speakers a couple times. But comparitivly the 2015 non-bose ( has the 8" screen I guess) with noise cancelling sounds good until you turn it up about 70% then it starts to distort. I wonder if there's a amp somewhere. I know I don't have a subwoofer because I have a bench seat.

Usually depends on the particular stereo in the truck (there are premium variants) and what source music you're listening to. FM, XM will naturally sound worse. CD, Aux-in with high bit-rate MP3, way better. Each generation, they do get noticeably better. Although even the latest "top end" system won't compare to a descent after-market setup. But yeah, all about expectations.

I recently added a small sub to mine, thinking that'd be enough. Nope. Now I've replaced most of the system. Happy now. :)

I like that the front door speakers are 6x9 ( I think) back in the day I was always buying a better set of 6x9 for the rear of what ever crappy car I was driving. I know in thery a 6 -1/2" component setup may have better sound quality but in my own experience I like the punch of a 6x9. The biggest thing I feel is missing from my stock stereo is the really low end thump. Even a 8" sub. ( Maybe a self contained sub with amp) would be enough to make me happy. I just wish there was a complete plug and play option.

The best sounding and easiest system ( stock) was my 2003 GMC 2500 with Bose. I unscrewed the center console and plugged in a harness that went to a aftermarket amp a sub. Then ran a power and ground. Sounds awesome and hit pretty hard.

Try fading to the where only the rear speakers play.

They're standard component style speakers, right around 6 1/2" or so. Some ext cabs had the oval speakers in the rear doors.

Here are the stock speakers from mine. They weren't entirely crap. :)
