2015 Sliverado V-6: Retrofit Extendable Steering Column?

Just got it.

 

Nice vehicle, but I am tall and with the seat all the way back I need 3-5" more steering wheel column to be able to drive in a relaxed posture.

 

I see used extendable columns in the vicinity of $300.

 

But when I check Chevy, I see that the extendable column option is not available on V-6's.

 

Could there be some physical reason why this retrofit cannot be done?

Welcome to this forum. You have posted a great question and there are many well informed members on this site who may offer a helpful response! It does not seem logical that a steering column from other trim levels would not fit.

Something else occurred to me: does the extendable actually give more length than non-extendable, or does it just go in further?

 

And exactly how many inches of extension am I getting?

 

I guess it's time for a tape measure and a trip to the dealer.
