Ok this is ridiculous my savings account is making 0.75% interest.

What are some other options? CD rates arent that great either :smash:

I might as well just take my money and put it in a coffee can under my bed. Its pitiful

IRA's are another but I have not kept up on them in a while. As well as Mutual funds. My wife does most of that stuff. Man if she ever leaves me or something happens, I'm history. She does most of the money issues.

I think she keeps me around to keep everything working and take car of her vehicle. :fume:

If this is money you will need in the very near future then you'll just have to put up with a low rate. If it is good for long term savings I'm comfortable being back into mutual funds. Do your research first.

First off I think of "BANKS" as a 4 letter word. Not big on banks as they are always out to screw you........

I do my buisness at credit unions so your mileage may very with my answer.

The credit union that I bank at has a better rate if you have more then 5k in a savings account, the rate get's boosted to 4%:lol:

So if I need short term cash build up that is where I keep it at, and if your trying to buy a house a savings account is about the only place that you are safe. Keep in mind that when you go to buy a house they don't like suprise amounts of money showing up in your accounts (Large transfers from IRA's Mutual funds and the sort)doesn't mean you will be turned down they just don't like that sort of thing....... After all it seems like when you buy a house they are all trying to get ya :smash::eek:

Hope you find somewhere to stash your cash!! There's always the mattress or under the creaky board in the hall....... :fume:

the credit union is actually lower. I think i am going to drop it into a state farm cd for 6 months. I dont need the cash right now and as far as mutual funds i am setting some of my check aside in a 401K so id rather not do that

You can also look into a money market account. It basically works like an interest bearing checking account. I believe they get about 3% interest and you always have access to the money. :fume:

IRA's and mutual funds are for long term savings and they have penalites for early withdrawls! :smash:
