Question for someone running a procharger setup.

I know the kit for our trucks runs about 8 psi, I'm wondering what size pulley comes with the kit to achieve that. I've got one, brand new, sitting on the shelf but it's not for an L83/86 and if I remember right I specced it out for 12 psi for my Vette. Just trying to get an idea what size pilly generates how much boost on our trucks.

Answered my own question, sort of, P1SC makes 6.5psi with the 3.7" Pulley. Less than I had thought.

Have a 5" on order for my D1SC, will start there and size down appropriately.

My truck goes in next week for a tune with an F1A and a 5" pulley to start with as well. Would love to get a list together of blower/pulley/boost numbers for us Procharger guys.

Damn, going straight to the F1A, impressive!

Well, I have a 5", 3.5" and a 3.4" so I will be more than happy to try all three and see. Once I get my head unit in. Didn't realize it until this weekend but the D-1SC I bought for my Vette back in the day was a CCW unit, so I am out of boost for another week or two.

I've been told the 5" on the F1A is in the area of 5lbs of boost, so I'm thinking that the 5" on your D1 may be a little too big of a pulley. ProCharger tech support also told me that the P1 that comes in the standard kit ships with a 3.85" pulley. Food for thought!

Did he say what the P1 was making with the 3.85"?

F1A All the way....Thats what I would have done if I went PC.

I'm weighing my options still but hoping to have one coming this week. My patience is running out.

Just to follow up, my truck made 507hp and 495tq at the wheels with the 5" pulley feeding around 9lbs of boost to the motor.

I made 574hp and 530tq at the wheels with a 3.4" pulley on a P-1SC-1 running 9 pounds of boost, but I think I might be loosing some on my BOV. Waiting to get my TIAL installed in the next week. But I am maxed out on my fuel system. Good to know the F1A is making 9 PSI with a 5", I knew I would need to upgrade head units sooner than later but this shows that the D1 isn't going to offer much over the P1.

Are you spraying meth as well? Cam? I feel like I should be making a little more, but apparently I was running out of fuel in the higher rpm's.

Nope and nope on the meth and cam though I have a cam sitting in the box waiting but it won't afford much more power yet. I have been working on it for two weeks now to get it dialed in, there is a lot on the Gen V platforms that has to line up to get the most power available, 550-600hp is about the range of maxed out on fuel for the L83 if you know what you are doing.

The tuners out there who have had good luck with GM cars in the past don't necessarily have the ability to the tune the Gen V's yet. My '05 GTO and my '08 Vette were easy compared to this truck, and my LS3 Vette set a record for the 1/4 mile on a factory car tune, no mods with run flats. Who did your tuning on your F1A setup and what tuning platform?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Back in the early to mid 2000's I was tuning cars for some extra pocket change, had the record for fastest stock convertible F body 6 speed, and tuning was easy on those cars. Ended up making that car a lot quicker than comparable cars, but got into lots of trouble street racing it. Gave up on cars for the past 10+ years and am finally getting the itch again. As far as the truck, planned on tuning it myself, but I went and opened the stock file and started sorting through it... totally different than what I was used to seeing! I didn't wanna chance anything, so I decided to have someone with experience do it. The blower sat in my garage for nearly two years before I found a shop that I felt had the experience and knowledge to do it. I went with Race Proven Motorsports up here by me in Delaware, they have tuned a LOT of the new DI stuff, with HPTUNERS, and have a great reputation with it. I left the truck with them so I wasn't there for any of the tuning process, so all I have is the dyno chart and their word to go off of. I was told it was dropping fuel pressure up by 6k rpm, and the chart would confirm that. Looks like he was running about 12.0afr, and by the end of the run it had climbed to a max of 12.61afr. What afr were you targeting? I wouldn't mind picking your brain a little if that's ok with you....

I do all my tuning in Lambda, I am targeting around .86 so around 12.6 afr on E10, 12.0 is a bit rich for these motors, they can run safely a little leaner than the old port injection motors. RPM has some good experience on these motors, I am surprised they didn't get more out of it. I would like to look at your torque tables on your tune. You dropping fuel off lines up with what I am seeing right now on the stock fuel system too given that we are running the same boost, I was able to get a little more in by playing with the start of injection tables but not much. When are you going to drop in a new high side fueling setup, that thing is a beast just waiting to go crazy.
