People I have 2016 checvy Silverado non Bose. I am in the process of upgrading my stereo system. Since I'm replacing my center console decided to go ahead and d this while my truck is a mess. I purchased a custom box by andreej. Decided to put in Jl audio fix 86 since I'm adding amp rather than do it later. Went to local audio to get wiring harness and was told to retain all stock stuff" on star, door chimes , etc.. I need rp5 gm51 about $200 dollar piece.thought I could just get a wire no harness to keep from cutting wires ?? Anybody done this or added processor and amp?

You will still most likely have loud chimes and Bluetooth. I don't think that has been quite figured out yet

I'm about to do mine in a few weeks and I'm going to swap the front and rear speakers circuits so the chimes come out of the unamplified rears.

I may be wrong but I believe you only need a new interface when you are changing the head unit,or that's what the guy at Bestbuy told me when I went in to add a 12 inch subwoofer and a amp. On my Silverado he didn't add the interface and I still have all door chimes and steering wheel controls.

In your case he probably just tapped into your year channel to get a signal and used an loc. to add your sub.

I'm making my own plug and play harness using Metra connectors 71-2107 and 70-2057
