leather seats

Does your truck or suv have leather? If so, do you like it better than cloth? I have leather in mine, but I would prefer cloth. About the only thing I like about leather is that it's easier to clean. I wasn't going to pass the truck up just because of leather though.

Also, I've seen a common problem with leather on gm trucks/suvs. They seem to crack and tear very easily. On my truck, by the lever that lets you recline the seat back or forward, the leather is tearing. I don't see this with the cloth. Also on the driver's side seat the leather is starting to wear. I don't know how gm has improved this on their later models, but knowing this I wouldn't buy leather again.

Cloth for me! Too hot down here in LA for leather but you're right, it is easier to clean!

My uncle has a 99 Suburban w/leather and you guessed it - The front 2 seats (the seats that are used the most) are starting to crack! :fume:

We'll since I commute to work too far it's a normal daily driver for my wife, and her being in the banking Industry she is required to wear a dress everyday. She like's it as the leather is easier to get in and out of because the cloth doesn't grab your clothes.... I know thats what your saying but after she mentioned it, it started to make since. That is the reason that cloth rips also is something jaged get's on it and rips it..........

As for cloth being more durable then leather I guess you could have your debate but keep in mind..... I'd rather have leather work boots on then cloth :fume::smash: So to me leather is my choice along with the re-sale being higher that's why I have it.......

I have cloth in my 92, and my 02 reg cab, and Leather in the 02 Z71.

I wouldn't give up the leather in my 02 for a bowl of Jelly bellies....And I like Jelly Bellies. I wasn't looking for leather, but now that I have it, I'm not sure that I will ever want cloth again.

On the other hand, my neighbors wife has a 97 Tahoe with leather in it. Hers just seems cheap...Almost like "pleather". Not nearly as soft, or as comfy as mine.

Cloth for me. If I ever take the truck to a side job I don't want the back end of my Glock or duty rig ripping the seatback.

Leather is durable. If you look at the seats that have cracks or tears (like mine :D ) it is on the sides of the seats and this material is actually vinyl. The only leather parts are just the surfaces that contact the body, seat top face and the front of the back rest.

I have the cheap 40/20/40 split bench and the cloth is very uncomfortable. It has vinyl on the sides too, which is torn in 2 places.

I would love to trade for the full power leather buckets with the arm rests.

Unfortunately, a set of fronts usually goes for $800 on Ebay.

My truck has leather. I like it better than the material interiors. IMO it's easier to clean, looks and feels great. :D

TahoeMike, you make a great point. And you are correct in what you said about leather being only on the body contact surfaces.
