Black fog light trim

I decided to try my hand at vinyl wrapping the chrome trim around the fog lights on the wife's 2017 Midnight. I used matte black to try to blend in with the rest of the trim around the lights.

Looks awesome! Does the trim just pop out of place?

Got any info on the vinyl you used?

Thanks.

To remove it:

1. Remove the lower fender liner screws and fold the liner back to gain access to the fog light

2. There are tabs on the sides and bottom of the trim piece. Release them with your fingers and the whole bezel pops out.

3. Release the tabs holding the chrome to the bezel.

I used 3M matte black wrap vinyl. 1080 series I believe. Took about 10"x12" to wrap each. Heat gun or hair dryer is a must to get it to stretch enough.

Cool. Thanks I am gonna try doing this on mine. I have a heat gun. Although I have never done any sort of vinyl wrapping before....will be an experiment.

Where do you buy the 3M vinyl?

This was my first wrap job as well. Take your time and buy extra vinyl. I scrapped the first piece.

I bought my vinyl on Amazon. A 1ft x 5ft piece was less than $20.

You're welcome. I just checked and it was 1080 wrap I used

Perfect, that's what I bought.

Hey these forums seem to be pretty dead. Have you joined Coloradofans.com? It's seems to be a little more lively over there.

So I got my vinyl the other day. I was gonna attempt doing this over the weekend, but ran out of time.

I have a question tho, So you take your 10x12 piece and drape it over the bezel. And it should just stick yea?

Do you have to cut out the middle before using the heat gun? What did you use to smooth it out?

I cut the pieces big enough to wrap around the back side a little. Start by stretching the vinyl around the outside and trim the edges. Mine wraps slightly around the back side. I did cut a little out of the center to get it to stretch enough. I cut too much on the first piece and scrapped it. Be patient and good luck.

The back of the wrap is designed to prevent air bubbles which is great. I used my fingers to smooth the wrap.

Cool thanks, I watched a few videos on how to do vinyl wrapping, I think I'll attempt this little project this weekend.

Thinking about doing my bowties too now.
