I've had the same problem, mainly with my bumper up front. But this paint does chip pretty easily. It's honestly annoying.

The ease in which the paint chips is honestly my only complaint so far with the truck. My 09's paint was rock solid. I know, environmental stuff. :/

the problem with the EPA they base their decisions on junk and biased science.

Amen to that! Hope the current POTUS gets rid of this agency for good!

We bought a 2018 GMC sierra in July with 500km on it. Have 7000km on it now, the paint is so scratched and pitted it looks 10 years old. Dealer says the scratches are normal wear and tear and the pitting is because we didnt put running boards and mud flaps on it. Which our 2014 came with so we just assumed the 2018 would also.

I'm not going to say I'm glad to see this thread, but I am glad that I'm not the only once experiencing it.

First 200 miles on my Deep Ocean Blue Z71 and 5 very noticeable white spots on the front end where the paint chipped.

Not 1000 miles later and I have 5 or six down each side of the truck.

My old Ford F150 with 135,000 miles didn't have this many rock chips.

Of course when I talked to service, they acted like they'd never seen anything like it.  I must be driving behind gravel trucks or something, they said.

I bought the paint pen, but it's been raining here for 2 months in South Texas not to mention the months of butterfly infestation....hard to get my truck clean enough to see the areas that need to be touched up.

The painted bumpers chip, plain and simple. Mine had about 8 chips in it but some guy ran into me with a sailboat at the gas station, now his insurance is buying me a new painted bumper so I guess I won in the end? Still driving it around looking like a complete idiot waiting for it though so I am suffering a bit.

I would have thought the paint quality is much improved on the K2 vs. the GMT900. My 2010 was the best truck I ever owned but I had to sell it due to multiple paint issues starting to arise, I think the new owner has had it repainted fully and I NEVER drove that truck in the gravel. People need to understand that their "old F150 with no chips" has an oil or latex based paint, since 2009/2010 they made the switch to water born paints. They are still trying to improve these formulas which is why GM opted to do "rocker guard" on the bottom to help minimize this from happening. I don't own any new Fords but I am willing to bet they suffer from the same fate, especially with a softer metal like aluminum denting and chipping when rocks hit it.

Just got back from Port A myself.  High water, and gale force winds doesn't make for good fishing.  But I did get 22mpg driving down there.  So there's that.

Please explain. EPA has nothing to do with it.

I know this is old, but do you not think the EPA regulates imports?

EPA could care less about emissions from other countries. They have no reach past the US borders.

It's a pretty simple concept... you have to meet local standards on imports.  For domestic production that isnt leaving the country who cares.  Not hard to understand lol.

That's not true. There is a whole list of EV-CIS manufacturing regulations for the auto industry on imports.
