I'm standing in the Canadian Tire parking lot today and top up the engine oil.

Another GMT900 truck drives by and the driver is shouting thru the open window in a knowing voice: "5.3!?"

I said: "Yup!".

The 5.3 engines from those trucks have oil consumption issues due to the AFM.

I had several GMC pickups with a 5.3.....1999, 2002 and 2004 that were grreat trucks with no issues at all except the 1999 lost it's ABS module at 69,000 so I left it and bought the 2002 but never an oil issue. But in keeping with good international relationships beyond the border---ha, ha, ha!
