Engine "flare" normal?

I have a 2015 5.3L Sierra. On a warm start (truck shut down for an hour or so), the RPM's will often start around 1100, then briefly rise to 1400 before slowing dropping to normal idle speed. Everyone else the same or should I take it in? Thanks!

Sounds a little odd but probably not a major issue. I would take it to the dealer. No sense in wondering when you have a warranty!

Mine will do this occasionally. It will also not cold start some mornings, but cold start leaving work. Haven't looked at the RPM when it does this so I can't tell you if they match yours.

The ECM is making it do this. Warming up the catalytic converter faster makes the engine go into closed loop. It's all about emissions these days....

I'be had all kinds of random cold start things happen in the last few years of owning this truck. Your "flair" as you describe it happens with my truck from time to time. Once, I even had the engine start and immediately climb to 4 or 5k RPM. I shut the truck off, started it again, and it started up like nothing weird happened at all.

I wouldn't get too excited about the flair.
