Need help, dealer stumped

First off let me say hello, this is my first post on gm-trucks but I have been reading for quite a long time. Also I apologize for the lengthy post but I want to put as much detail into it as possible.

I am having a couple problems (possibly related) with my 2017 GMC Sierra SLT. The dealer is claiming they have never heard of or seen any of these problems and of course they are very intermittent and I'm hoping someone on here has had the same problem because it's very frustrating, and they can point me in the direction of a fix.

Problem number 1. While using the Bluetooth to place a call, every once in a while with no reason on consistency I get a very distorted call. I can tell when it is doing it because before the last update it was a very slow ring, after the dealer updated the human interface module it is a fast ring but the distortion once the person I am calling answers or their voicemail picks up the distortion is the same. It has never done it when someone was calling me only when I call them. I have a short video of it but since apple doesn't allow video recording while making a call it's been a challenge to get a good recording. The dealer is blaming my phone or AT&T but I have connected my phone to several different vehicles with the Intellink or MyLink and I have not been able to get it to do it in any vehicle except mine.

Problem number 2: I have had on a few occiasions the reverse camera would stay on while driving down the road for an undetermined amount of time. The first time it happened it was stuck on for 3-4 minutes. I have a couple minute video of it. The second time it happened it only stayed on for a couple minutes. The bad part is there again it doesn't do it every time there again. It would actually be quite handy if there were a button to push to turn it on and off but what I have read there is no way possible for the camera to be on going forward down the road, wanna bet ;). I can post the video to YouTube if I can figure out how, and then link it to this post.

At this point I the dealer, and GM apparently are out of idea as to what to do. I am not satisfied with "We don't know what's wrong and don't have a fix." They are digging into it further, so they say but I want them to start replacing hard parts at this point. Has anyone had either of these two things happen?

Thanks!

My 14 Silverado had the camera issue just like you describe, would stay on for miles but the dealer never replicated it and never fixed it. My 17 Silverado with only a few thousand miles has had the service rear vision message a few times but I'm just watching it for now as it goes away quick.

I'm surprised they haven't just replaced your head unit.

Bingo... ^^^

If they ADMIT they can't isolate a specific problem, move the control volume.... change the head unit. Maybe you insist on that?

Mine did this also a couple times and since the update to the human interface module (I know you wouldn't think they would be related at all) it seems to have fixed that.

Sounds like it's time to INSIST on a new head unit.

My 2017 Silverado 1500 has on a few occasions had the distorted call issue. It was on both in bound and outbound calls. I would just turn off the bluetooth and make the call. It is very intermittent. Probably only a total of 4 times in the last few months.

I have had my '17 Denali so something similar with calls. The ring sounds very deep & distorted, when the person answers completely distorted. Only happened twice .. I didn't think much of it but maybe something to keep an eye on

Would you consider the ring to be longer than a normal ring? Like riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing instead of riiiiiing like a normal call

Sounds very similar to mine only mines only when I call someone, so far. And the intermittent factor is very difficult to deal with.

Yes I think so, I'm working from memory so I'm not 100% sure but its as though everything has been slowed down / deepened. Imagine a cheesy robotic voice in a cartoon or something.

Try this one for the Bluetooth issue, I'll work on the camera one

Thanks Blue. I'll give the dealer a call and see what they can pull up on this. What kind of number is this? A TSB?

GM uses what they call Doc id #'s as opposed to TSB #'s in reality they are the same. If your dealer has no idea what that is find another dealer.
