2001 2500HD Wiper Arm Travels Too Far Down

I just bought a 2001 2500HD and the first time I used the wipers I found that they hit the plastic cowling below the windshield on each down stroke.

So Thunk-Thunk-Thunk... in the rain.

 

There is room to move the "Arc" up more on the windshield.

 

Is there a way I can adjust the movement or re calibrate them?

 

I have not taken the plastic off yet to look at how they work. I will do that when I get time.

 

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had the same problem on my 1998. well actually the opposite. My wipers would sit way too high and block my view when "resting". Not sure whats different in 3 years, but my wiper arms had a slot that could only go on the shaft in 1 spot, so I could not adjust the arms that way. If you don't have that, you could just pop the arms off and turn them a little bit and reset them on the shaft. I never got around to moving mine before I sold it.

 

I was thinking about trying to rotate the linkage connection to the motor or something. There's gotta be a way to fix that. I agree its pretty annoying.
