Amazing how the power goes away.

Last week there was a traffic accident on the freeway and besides the long wait, they had all the lanes blocked except for one.

As we were going around the accident, I got passed the lane blockage and there was just an open sea of concrete.

So I floored it.

The V8 came alive and put me back in my seat. As I could hear that sweet sound of the V8 racing, I sped passed 60, 70, 80, and then 90.

All of a sudden it was like I was on cruise control. I had the pedal to the metal, and there was not a sound from that powerful V8.

Absolutely no power, the exciting rumble of that 315 hp catapulting me down the road had ceased.....just quiet silence.

The speed limiter kicked in and the truck just cruised along very smoothly as if I was doing 65mph.

It's amazing how the V8 can throw you back in your seat one minute, and then when you hit 90, it seems like you took your foot of the pedal.

I know it's there for safety reasons, but it sure was nice to feel and hear that V8 come alive! I wish I could find a way to make that sound a little louder so the other vehicles would think I had a 572 under that hood!

That's what aftermarket exhaust systems are for. Try something like Cherry bomb. The problem is the droning of the exhaust when cruising. You can also put in electric/manual exhaust cutouts, which will open at full throttle.

And if you get a tune, you can remove the speed governor. I've had my tuned Suburban up to 120, gps verified. Even though it's a 6500-lb truck, it got a little floaty, so I won't be doing that again. I'm hesitant to tune my Denali, because that thing is scary-quick, and I'd probably kill myself.

Lastly, your governor should kick in at 100, not 90.

You can thank throttle by wire for that. The computer actually did reduce throttle for you. That's one thing going I really like about my 2000, I still have a throttle cable.
