IF YOU HAVE A 5.3

It was my understanding that without an actual TUNE that any power mods or adders would eventually cause the computer to relearn and effectively negate the effects of what you add.
I Know this was true on my last car, chevy sonic sedan with my fancy cold air intake, both from the butt dyno, 0-60 runs, and techs at the dealership.

Do our trucks do this too?
I'm curious because if they don't and the power gains are retained, then I will invest in a CAI along with my much less restrictive exhaust

Numbers seem really high. Not sure where I am losing numbers lol. Here are numbers on my 2015 Sierra 5.3 after a couple bolt ons... banks intake, mbrp 3" cat back, and an HP tuners custom tune. 312hp torque 333 at the wheels.

I don't have a before run of the truck before intake and exhaust.

Custom tune for reg fuel. might re tune for 91 soon but it likely won't affect numbers, likely notice slight increase at wot

Only thing I can think of is the cold air inductions air box is bigger, maybe better design than the banks? the filters look similar in size

All dynos are different. If you took your truck and put it on a mustang dyno it would probably measure less horsepower than that dynojet. As long as they are close then that is good enough.

However, since you have a custom tune, not sure who did it for you but I would question if that person tuned your truck properly.

while I don't have the desire to transform my Silverado into a "race truck", I did install this CAI on my Camaro, and my butt dyno says it added a little hp. As far as the comment of $200 install, it was so easy, that a caveman could install it.

Ya I don't know the guy that did it, so for all I know he might just be learning or doesn't know too much about what he's doing, happens a lot these days in many if not all trades lol. Ah well , will have to see when I have time to do the research how to get the truck running the best it can be with what's on it now. I'll have to show him the street speed video though haha Thanks for the input!

I was 19 when I bought that car, needed to get to and from school and wanted to have some fun too, might as well with some turbo noises.

Nice to see you haven't left high school mentally.

Thanks to all of the supporters on this forum. This system conservatively adds 15HP, 12 ft-1b of torque, dyno tested with gains up to 24 HP and 20 ft-lb of torque. The system requires no tune and can be installed in less than 30 minutes. We have systems for GM trucks, 5.3 and 6.2L from 2007-2017. Please contact us at 810-392-9999 with any questions or check out our website at www.coldairinductions.com Thanks again!

Street logging IATs before and after would be the information most should be concerned with in verifying if this is good for your truck or not. Research the relationship between intake air temperature and engine timing in a GM tune for more info. Cliffs: hot air from an exposed air filter in the engine bay reduces POWA!

Cheers.
