CarPlay behavior.

When I get in the truck, I plug my iPhone in using one of the console USB ports.

Radio works until I get a call, or if I get a text, until I press to have the text read. Then the radio goes silent until I unplug the phone.

Obviously I still have Bluetooth for calls if I do this, but I can't charge my phone.

It started doing this in my other truck, then continued sporadically in this one. Today, it appears to be a consistent little glitch.

I have current iOS and have rebooted the phone. Any suggestions?

So I called my local dealership, from whom I did not purchase (though I tried). He said the techs don't do this because they don't get paid, but the sales force typically does it for customers. He told me to swing it by to see if he could find someone to do it for me.

I called the dealer I purchased from - 30 miles away - they said they'd be happy to handle and I asked if there was an instruction list I could follow and do it without spending an hour round trip on the highway. No, apparently.

So I swung by the local. Of course the advisor had no idea, said they would charge for a "reprogram," since I didn't buy it there. I said I have 8000 miles, is this not a warranty item? Oh yes. Bring it in early Monday and leave it with me and we'll take a look. Early, now.

I was Mr Superniceguy and thanked him profusely as I left. I get it of course but this one goes straight to the "example of why" file. I suspect everyone here would agree if the knew/saw the whole story.

So I moved my USB cord to the dash (by the 115v outlet), out of the arm rest console. Viola! Looks like crap but appears to work again.

I'd still like to fix it. Update it.
