Can you hear your drivetrain?

Ever since day 1, when I have my truck in 4WD I can hear a humming noise. I figured this is normal, cause when I push the button to put it back in 2H, it goes away. Is it normal?

I'd say it is normal to have some noise when in 4WD. My truck makes some noise...

 

There are alot of extra parts moving when 4wd is engaged. Noises are hard to hear over the internet, but I would say your truck is fine...

YUP !!!! My 90-94-97-and 01 ALL were/are noisy in 4wd.

I have a slight growl/purr

I have a noise going in and out of 4wd and maybe a tiny whine while in 4wd lo but nothing I can hear in 4wd hi.

Definately noticeable in 4WD . Kind of a light growl coming from the tranny hump. Perfectly normal.

I like that growl in 4wd especially when I jump on the gas in the snow or such. Kind of gives me that funny feeling that Garth talked about in Wayne's World

Hmmm, I was concerned with that too, but it seems that it's normal. I never heard it in my '01 Blazer so I was a little concerned with it at first as well.
