246 transfer case swap.

Changing a bad NPG246 in an 01 Yukon. Found a good used one from an 05 Yukon. My problem is the shift motor. The 01 had two wiring connections, one with 6 pins, one with 4 and the shift shaft is flat on two sides. The 05 has only one wiring connection with 6 pins and the shift shaft is splined. The gears in the shift motor can't swap that I can tell so can anyone tell me can I hook up this new one to the old wiring, or do I crack open both cases and swap shift shafts? I'm stuck without transportation until I get this fixed.

I'd swap the shafts if they are exactly alike.  Get the part numbers (you'll have to find them on the internet, I doubt your local dealer will have them, just my exp.) for everything you're going to swap, if they are the SAME you know you're golden, if not I would call www.merchantauto.com for advice. I would also ask them if their pump rub kit is available for your truck.; since you will be in the xfer case any way you may as well fix the rub issue while you're in there.
