1998 c1500 with 4l60e transmission

Will a 4l60e from a 1997 work in a 1998? I would like to put this in temporarily until I can get mine rebuilt.

If it's c1500 to c1500 you're good. But if it's from a van or car check the torque converter and driveshaft yoke if possible.

I agree the year shouldn'tbe a problem the only factor there should be is the size of the truck

Yes i am agree the 4L60-E (and similar 4L65-E) is a series of automatic transmissions from General Motors. Designed for longitudinal engine configurations.

They use the 4L80 in bigger trucks like my 95' w/ 7.4

Not sure if you've tried it or not but it won't hook right up. The '98 trans has different sensor connectors compared to the '97.
