Ford Burns to the Ground While Driving

Hey there guys, this will be my first post on here and really quickly I'll tell you why.. July 28th going camping in my 2001 FORD F150 ( I know, I know ) about 15 miles from my house as I'm driving down the freeway.

*Me to my girlfriend* -" Does it smell like somethings burning?"

Her- "Yeah I was just thinking that but its probably one of these factories around here"

(We were in a very industrial area with a bunch of factories just billowing smoke out)

Now in my head I thought I was just kind of being paranoid but I swore my knees were getting hot.

Then a light came on on my dash and I don't remember which one it was because right after I saw that smoke was coming out of the cracks of the hood.

And as I'm pulling over right as I was about to stop I can see orange under the hood.

Pulled over grabbed what I could out of the console and within 20-30 seconds as we got as far away as we could, the whole cab was engulfed.

Here is the aftermath---https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B17tvapcJu9KZlBtSmRpdllLVm8

So why I'm here is because after all this nonsense, with Ford, mind you I had a 2000 F150 that burnt down in front of my house due to a cruise control recall, Im here because I got a killer deal on a '99 Silverado z71 4x4 barely over 100k miles. Super clean. I was wondering what year silverados had interchangeable parts with the 1999. Ive always been a fan of putting parts off of newer model trucks on the trucks that I have. For example I put f250 super duty taillights on my f150. Things like that, if you guys have any ideas please let me know. Also want to swap the stock mirrors for some tow mirrors, Ive seen guys with 02 chevys put tow mirrors off of 2016 dmax's on there 1500's. Any other mods you guys know of would be greatly appreciated!

First thing you should get is a chrome fire extinguisher. FORD or not after that I know I I'd bring my own even if I was riding with someone else. That's some scary shyt.

Fire extinguishers in all vehicles. In fact, I have TWO in my Suburban, just because I had the space.

The 99 is interchangeable on exterior bits for 99-06 models.

2003 was a platform refresh, so some electrical and interior bits aren't interchangeable - instrument panel, headlight grounding/switching, etc.
