New Member needs help on correct tailgate hinges

Hi everyone, I'm new here and need help. While in Florida (stupid me), I forgot to put up my tailgate with my 30ft travel trailer attached and ruined my 2016 Silverado tailgate. I purchased a new take off 2015 2500 Silverado tailgate , same color, but the hinges are different. Below are pictures of the new tailgate with the inserts in them. I need help on the year or part number for these hinges so I can put on the tailgate.

 

 

The specs for the passenger side with the grommet is = 1inch by 1inch

The specs for the driver side with the grommet is = 1 and 1/8th inch by 5/8th inch.

I've tried 2016 & 2015 hinges and they don't match up.

All the parts for the gates are same 2015-2018. Your problem is you have the wrong tailgate for your truck. Two versions of gates and hinges, one for the tailgate raise and lower assists, and one with no assists. Check your glovebox for the code PPA. If you have PPA, you have the assist tailgate. If you don't, you have the normal gate. Also, if you are looking to change the hinges on the gate itself, you can't. They are welded to the gate and only serviced with a tailgate. The box side ones are replaceable.

You could, you just need to know what gate you have now. From the pictures you posted, I assume those are the hinges on the tailgate (the new one)? If so, it looks like your new gate has the assists. You need 23439650 and 15206082 hinges.

Thanks for your help, I decided to return the tailgate and get one with the correct hinges. After researching the auto lift gates, I found them to be unreliable and the hinges themselves were smaller in diameter. Over time they would get worn faster,and being welded in place impossible to exchange out. I wish GM would've stuck to bolt in place.
