It's why I have more than one vehicle lol... missed the part where I haven't driven it for a month apparently. It will be no less reliable with what I am doing than a stock truck is anyhow.  This truck is too pathetic and boring to be left as is... I didn't buy it to just drive the old one all the time because it's a better unit as is.

Oh I hear you.  In some ways I am jealous because I've never worked on anything newer than 1972, at least never intentionally upgraded anything newer.  But at the same time it all kind of freaks me out, with all the computer codes and wiring and craziness under the hood.  I've spent hours just trying to get a throttle cable adjusted correctly, if I ever worked on a rig and the dash started flashing a code at me I think I'd shoot the damned thing!

Once you get into an LS you will see how simple of an engine they are.  The most complicated thing on this truck will be the VVT phaser but even it's not complicated.  The wiring is really simple but then I work with wiring and end devices in plants all the time.. right in the middle of a major control system upgrade so it's pretty norm for me.

I am rewiring a lot of my 04 Sierra project truck to move the harness because it's not going to lay over the supercharger.  It's about half done... need to change the pigtails for the new injectors and lengthen the drivers side harness because those are too short.

I would rather work on an LS than and old small block... no antifreeze slopping everywhere if you pull the intake, reusable gaskets, etc.

I am supposed to do a 350 for a buddy and honestly I don't want too lol.  It's a TBI so I might swap it to roller cam at least if the block has provisions for it.  Just use a stock Vortec truck cam or the old L98 Camaro cam.. slow and stock.

If you have a link to a build thread for the '04, I'd be interested to see how it's going.  I was even looking at one of those under the hood roots blowers for my 72, but I decided not to mess with it because I use it to plow my driveway.  I can't even get the damned choke adjusted correctly, the last thing I need is to be under the hood effing with a supercharger with 8 inches of snow on the ground.

I'm definitely not wise yet, but at least I'm a little less stupid!

No build threads for this guy haha.  I get tired of people telling you what kind of piece of crap you built and how you are doing it wrong like they all seem to turn into.  I make enough changes all on my own haha.

Buddy of mine has a B & M 144 baby roots blower on the 350 in his 87 Firebird.  It's got a 650 qwikfuel on top of it and it runs pretty good for what it is.  I have him convinced to LS swap it once the 350 craters or he gets bored of it haha.  The L96 in my 17 with a cam and headers will make more power than his 350 setup does hahaha. Lets not kid ourselves.. totally stock its probably more or fairly close... with a tune only it's definitely more.

My cam is on it's way.  216/224, .585 lift on both on a 114 lsa.  It's a vvt cam so advance to 8 degrees on the bottom and have 6 degrees of ****** by around 5500 rpm.  Should pull alright.  I will be surprised if anyone else knows what that all means haha.

Yes I am putting in a phaser limiter and otherwise on the engine it's speed engineering 1 7/8 primary long tubes into the stock 3.5" exhaust with my borla xr1. Of course springs (PAC 1218s), hardened push rods and I think bronze bushings for the rocker trunions. Probably add e fans while I am in there and some kind of an intake tube.

I am tempted to pull the heads in favour of a set of 243 cathedrals.. way better head for torque than the rectangle ports these come with.  But I will try this as is for now... might do an lsa blower down the road.

It's all fun... this is my company truck.. I don't legally own it (i own the business but still) and it will have to fire up cold in minus 30 bs and whatnot... should be good times lol.  Once winter comes again I am trading my 05 Sierras LQ4 (also company lol) and doing a bit of a build... wilder than this but still reasonable haha.

I'm curious how this worked out for you.  I was thinking of putting a cam in my truck this summer. I'm putting the speed engineering 1 7/8 long tube headers on it in a couple weeks when they come in.
