R Dogg 56 Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 Kodiak Pickup For Release: Oct. 28, 2002, 8 a.m. EST NEW CHEVROLET KODIAK PICKUP: BUFF, BEAUTIFUL & BRAWNY The Chevy Kodiak Pickup is what the ultimate class 4 regular-cab pickup might look like with an 8-foot steel dually pickup box and tailgate with custom composite side panels and protective Rhino interior lining. GM worked with Monroe Truck Equipment of Monroe, Wis., to develop this special version of the Kodiak C4500 to show customers and converters what is possible with the new GM medium-duty trucks. Monroe's extensive engineering and testing efforts developed a patent-pending sub-frame structure to isolate the pickup box from chassis inputs, as well as accommodating fifth-wheel and goose-neck trailer applications. The Kodiak Pickup includes the addition of a 50-gallon aluminum tread plate from Transfer Flow, cross-mounted in the pickup box, increasing total fuel capacity to more than 90 gallons. Adding to the exterior styling of the Kodiak Pickup are the Pace Edwards roll-top pickup box cover, aluminum-like wheel simulators, composite mud flaps, and Euro-style rear taillights to complement the polished 3-inch diameter stainless steel cab-entry steps that extend to provide access to the pickup box. Interior enhancements include: dual-tone leather seats, complementary gray carpeted floor, aftermarket dash and door trim, as well as an upgraded interior rearview mirror. "The new medium-duty Chevy Kodiak and GMC TopKick offer the opportunity to fulfill an enormous variety of end-customer needs, from carrying huge and heavy landscaping or construction materials to hauling horses, boats and race buggies," said David Dunahay, marketing director for GM Medium Duty Trucks. "And, with aggressively competitive advantages - including clean back-of-cab and flat and straight frame-rails to make installations easier, enhance quality, and reduce costs - upfitters have a very compelling reason to purchase and sell this vehicle." Multimax Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 Awesome! Any idea what motor?tranny combo might be offered. DMAX or Cummins?
R Dogg 56 Posted July 21, 2003 Author Posted July 21, 2003 Awesome! Any idea what motor?tranny combo might be offered. DMAX or Cummins? It's the Duramax/Ally combo. The 8.1 is an option, though no price is listed for that option.
MCourson Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 Awesome! Any idea what motor?tranny combo might be offered. DMAX or Cummins? The engines listed on chevy's site for the c4500 is the DMax 6.6 or the Vortec 8.1
R Dogg 56 Posted July 21, 2003 Author Posted July 21, 2003 Yeah, that's pretty much what this truck is, a C4500. Stil cool though. Big @$$ mirrors though. Too bad they didn't put the HD's mirrors on it.

The other Family II truck is a class 5, and family III contains the Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks. The pickup bed is done by Monroe Truck Equipment. Check out their site here:MTE Website Hope to see you guys in the other thread MQ P.S. No K4500 and 5500 till later this year, only C's
TXDMAX Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 We had that truck at our dealer for about two weeks. I took it home one night to scare my wife and it worked. It will grab some attention people pointing. Very bumpy on the road w/o air seats. We also just had a crew cab w/ a western hauler come in made by dixie conversions. It had dvd system and leather, very nice truck.
ShortCrew Posted July 21, 2003 Posted July 21, 2003 Please tell me those are NOT the stock tail lights. They should offer the 7.8L Duramax in this puppy.
Stepside Z Posted July 22, 2003 Posted July 22, 2003 I saw one of these this weekend and it looked really sweet.
GMMediumDutyMQ Posted July 22, 2003 Posted July 22, 2003 Standard taillights are the typical 3500 Silverado/Sierra taillights. The Euros (ugh) are extra cost.
99silveradoz71 Posted July 22, 2003 Posted July 22, 2003 Saw a crew cab like that at the autoshow here this year. Looked sweet, love it. *Penny going into the bank* better start now.
MarkD Posted July 22, 2003 Posted July 22, 2003 Pretty awesome truck! Any probability is sees the light of day?(production)
2000Plow4x4 Posted July 23, 2003 Posted July 23, 2003 Hey Stepside Z, was it white, you're from around New Hampshire right?? I saw one on I-93 in Manchester. I think they're seet, It was being followed by a white HD crew cab, so must have been some dealer. Four Wheel Drive will be nice for plowing, something to compete with the F-450-550.
sk Posted July 23, 2003 Posted July 23, 2003 MarkD: It's already in production!! You can order it as a "ship-thru" from Monroe Truck Equipment (they also offer all-wheel-drive conversions): http://www.monroetruck.com/whatshappening.asp Here's some info on the Kodiak pickup as well as accessories you can order right on the truck: http://www.monroetruck.com/Pdf/KodiakTopki...20Red%20Lit.pdf ADDED IN EDIT: Lousy filters -- just go to the first link and click on the next link under the Kodiak pickup section to get to the Adobe file .....
