bndawgs Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Anyone shot or have any hands on info for the new Springfield XDE with external hammer? Getting the itch again and I'm leaning towards a Springfield or S&W Shield.
slimjim2525 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I would recommend the Springfield. I have a Springfield EMP in 9mm, and a Shield 9mm. Was at the range today with both. The Springfield is IMO by far a better gun. Fells better, trigger is way better, and for me, I shoot way better with it. Having said that, I carry all the time, and carry the shield more because it is a little slimmer, and lighter. I have not handled the XDE, but have seen it.
bndawgs Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 There's some good sales going on for both Springfield and Shields. I need to get to the range and try out a few of them.
diyer2 Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Looking at the shields for CCW. The sale ones I have found are not the new 2.0 models.
Penguin VII Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Personally, I dislike the SA/DA for a CCW. I have a full sized FNX 45 Tactical that I shoot rather frequently and it's good because of the size and manner in which I carry and shoot it (combat setup, gloved, external carrier) but I personally steer away from the SA/DA for concealed carry. I don't even like having an external safety (although I know some states require it). Personally I would look at the Glock 43 and M&P Shield for CCW. They are both very small but have a decent amount of purchase and they are quality firearms.
