Hello everyone, new guys here. I've had my 2014 Sierra 1500 SLE extended cab 4x4 for a few years now. I've done a few cosmetic upgrades, but nothing big. 2" leveling kit, plasti dip wheels and emblems plus some other minor projects. I'm getting new tires for the winter season coming up. I walked into discount tire and the guy took a look at the truck and suggested 285/70/18 size tires (I know very little about tires). My question is will they rub? I've seen a few posts on here talking about spacers and cutting. I'd like to avoid cutting at all costs. Thanks for the helpTruck.thumb.jpg.52c3e1568a79fe13e886d6c243c859ec.jpg

What tires where they recommending? Didn't think there was many options in that size.

285/70/18 will probably rub.  Safest I'd say for no rubbing would be 265/70/18 or 275/70/18, being leveled.

Great. Guess I should have come here before talking to them.

Already ordered them?  I know the 265/70/18 fits good, we just did them on a 2015 leveled truck here at work (GM dealer).  General Grabber AT2.  No rubbing.  265/70/18 is a 32.6" tire, 275/70 should be 33".  Stock is 31.7.

yea they're ordered already. Unfortunately they were pretty booked through December with everyone getting ready for winter in the Seattle area. I just took his word for it and ordered what he suggested. I'll definitely update this thread next week when they get thrown on and see if they rub.

Keep posted.  They may be fine, anything is possible LOL.

Worst case scenario, I finally get that lift I've been putting off. Never lifted anything before and don't know what to look for when it comes to damaging the vehicle.

I looked on customoffsets website and they had a truck with stock wheels and same size tires you ordered. Said no running but that was with 2 inch wheel spacers. The sizes that newdude gave seem to be what others have ran and had no rubbing and did not have to trim either. So I second those size tires he gave.

I didn't realize the Ridge Grappler came in that size.  You might be winning here, because the 285/65r18 is a good size for a level but needs a little more height.

The 295/70r18 rubs except on some people's "magic trucks".

So, the 285/70 might be the perfect compromise...same width as 285/65, but just a bit taller.

Keep us posted.
