Traffic/construction alert on MyLink/intellilink

Hey there!

 

I have a brand new 17 Silverado LTZ with the factory Navigation. I was driving on the highway when my truck told me of oncoming construction which sure enough was there. 

 

I did a search on here with guys saying that we get those alerts through SXM however on their website for market coverage it does NOT show any cities like Winnipeg In my province of Manitoba as being covered for traffic which leaves me wondering where does the construction alerts come from? Maybe Onstar?

It's definitely SXM.  I've always had on-star but not always the "weather and traffic" option on SXM.  When I've had it, it was there, and when the sub stopped, the traffic updates stopped.

My traffic and weather both stopped when my sxm ran out.

So it’s xm that’s doing the traffic and weather! I thought it was onstar, so now I really don’t need to renew my onstar, I do like having the hotspot tho!!

 

can’t live without my xm.

Weather and traffic are supplied by SXM.  It depends on your plan though -- the lower plans don't include it (it is an add-on like SXM internet radio):
