Fatal accident - why did airbags not deploy?

I was looking thru those pics and found it interesting that the airbags didn't deploy in this fatal accident.

The Collision came in right at the cab corner the front end is not that damaged.  It just missed the sensors  plain and simple.

Agreed. Unfortunately, just because these vehicles have all this safety stuff built in doesn't mean it is absolutely fail proof and will work with every scenario.

I can show you pictures from a 2000s Chevy truck that was head on into a ditch, the airbags never deployed. Hit hard enough it partially folded the truck (read: bent the frame) in half.

And probably would not have made a differences, as the roof/side of the cab has been significantly pushed into the driver's head area.

 

You really want to do everything you can to not hit power/light poles.

That looks like it was sliding on its side when it hit. The vehicle was repositioned so they extract the passengers...
