2500 & 3500 srw differences

Age old question. Structurally, what are the differences? I’ve read speculation that it’s the same frame with different suspensions. Is it really that minor of a difference?

From what I understand...same frame, different main springs, added overload springs, different torsion bars, different rear differential (11.5AAM?).

Pretty much sums it.  SRW 1 ton gets the 11.5" regardless of engines, more rear springs plus helpers, higher payloads, GVWR (just over 13,000lbs on dually).  No TPMS over 10,000lbs on the 1 ton, unless its ordered as a 10,000 GVWR which is a very limited optioned GVWR for the 1 ton.  All SRW come with the 18" wheel/tire package (provides higher load rating setup).  Torsion bars are the same, but the gas plow preps are all 5600lbs where the 3.4 ton are 5200lbs except for crew long box and double long box.  3/4 ton gets the 10.5" for gas, lower GVWR (up to 10,000lbs).

The rear leaf spring packs are the same, the 3500 has the overload added to the top of the pack, they are the same until the truck squats a couple inches then the 3500 overloads make contact.

On the 2500, the badge says "2500HD" and on the 3500, the badge says "3500HD."

You're welcome.

Not on the 2017. Nothing on my door.

I’m just trying to figure out what to do if this truck reaches payload capacity with a TT. 1 ton doesn’t seem to add enough weight capacity over the 2500. Guess I’ll have to trade in the TT for a different one.

I’m sitting pretty much at capacity +/- 100lbs depending on tongue weight.

34’ jayco. 7500 wet weight. Tongue weight is usually around 800-1000lbs plus wdh.

Didn't you just buy a 2500hd Dmax?

You've got what, 2500 lbs or so of payload, and giving up 1k for the trailer?  Where is the other 1500 lbs going?
That's what I was wondering...

You mean you have an extra fuel tank?  I am pretty sure the rated payload is based on a full tank of fuel.

I see where you are going with this, though, the golf cart is heavy.

I know the weight inside the door is always debated about the fuel weight. I just need to go and weigh the truck.
