Blown Fuse

     Hello, I drive A 2008 Silverado extend cab. I recently tried to get an emissions test and my OBD system would not communicate with the test equipment. They told me that it was the fuse to the power outlet or cigarette lighter. Found the fuse in the fuse box under the hood. The fuse was blown however when I replaced the fuse the new one blew right away. Tried to troubleshoot by disconnecting the power outlet but the fuse still blew right away. does anyone know what else is connected to this circuit or anything else I can try? Thank you.

I would suggest getting a short-term subscription at helminc.com or alldata.com for your specific truck.  They will have complete electrical diagrams for your truck, and probably (but I'm not certain of this) diagnostic procedures to go through to get your ODBII port working again.

 

And if this is a truck you plan on keeping & working on yourself, I would suggest either getting a longer-term subscription or the paper full-service manual if you prefer looking at real paper vs a computer screen while working on your truck.
