2017 elevation grille

I have a 2017 white elevation. I hate the chrome in the grille. Went to my local dealer told them i wanted to buy the base model grille as it just has plain black insert. They told me it wont fit. Im calling bs. Why would gm make trim specific fitting grilles for the same truck. Anyone know if this is bs or any truth to it?

You could always just plastidip it. There's a lot of plastidipping happening around here and some members are sure to know the recipe to getting a matching black.
