Tech2 or not Tech2

Im not a mechanic and I don't play one on TV

but I do occasionally like to tinker

I thought about a Tech2, but have never used anything more than a fancy code reader in the past. (GoPoint BT1)

Prices are certainly down there for a Tech2, but what little I can decifer - are these for 2013's or older?

Forgive my ignorance - but my recent interest in the possibility of obtaining such a tool leads me to a few questions?

What is the most recent software (version) I would look for in a Tech2

Will the latest Tech2 work (fully) on my 2015 Suburban?

Does the Tech2 work on all older OBD2 GM vehicles?

If I were to find and want to replace a component that needed to be reprogrammed - how expensive is it to download individual module updates (I realize this question may be outside the box)

What Diagnostic Tools are the dealers using now?

Tech2 will not work on a 15 Suburban.

Tech2 supports GM vehicles thru 2009. After that it is a sliding scale downward through model year 2014.

Dealers currently use an MDI or MDI2 along with a computer and GM software. Have been on some models since MY 2010.

With the right cables and adapter you can program with a Tech2 on vehicles compatible with the Tech2.

You don't buy updates per module. SPS system can be subscribed to through AC Delco by the day.

The MDI along with GM software is backward compatible to the 90's at least. Tech2Win software.
