New to Forum, Not New to GM

Hi folks, first time posting to this forum. Like the title says, not new to GM. I've been a GM guy most of my life. (Let my wife talk me into a Ford Escort back in '82. But only once.) I've owned everything from a Vega to a Corvette and 7 Camaros (most recently a '16 SS, which was my trade for my '17 Silverado). I opted for the basic WT 4X4, with just a few upgrades ( black 20s, sprayed in bed liner) I really like the simplicity of my truck from the rubber floor covering to the actual shifter on the floor (for the 4WD) to the lack of OnStar and the AM/FM radio. I will admit I do miss the convenience of satellite radio on the long trips, but not enough to want the OnStar that goes with it. All in all I am very pleased with my new truck.

Now, if I may, I would like to ask a technical question. My truck came with a set of all season tires , which are OK so far; however I am making plans to go with a more aggressive tire . All of the tires I'm looking at are 2.1" bigger in diameter than the stock tire. (Stock 275/55R20 verses new 275/65R20) This will through the speedometer off a few MPH. I checked with my service rep, and after his research, he informed me that there are no provisions on the service manual for recalibrating the speedometer. My question; is this true? Or is it that GM doesn't want us changing their product? Also, has the aftermarket got around this? If so, any recommendations.

Thanks in advance.
