Electrical issues (yes another one)

So this past weekend my dashboard started lighting up at full lock to the right. Stabilitrak, TC, ABS, trailer brake, parking sensors, lane keeping and whatever else is related to those systems. Would ding and flash at full lock then disappear. By Sunday night they were on from the moment I turned the ignition on. Brought it to the dealer this morning and it showed 22 fault codes.

One was the left front wheel speed sensor wire insulation had been rubbed through by the wheel (I had known about this as the dealer did a sloppy job ziptying the wire to my cognitos). I had fixed the zip tie but the salt had finally corroded the wire enough to cause an issue. I was under the impression this meant an entire new hub assembly, but the tech said they could just replace the wheel speed sensor.

As far as the 21 other faults, I didn’t get much of an explanation other than it was somewhere on the left side of the truck and I saw the tech digging through the wiring harness under all the trim. Service manager gave me a loaner and said he will call me tomorrow. I mentioned the infamous bad ground under the dash people have been talking about here and service manager politely brushed it off and seemed to be confident they would figure it out.

Anyone have anything similar to this experience?

Not sure about the turning the wheel thing but were they checking the wiring under the dash lid on the left side closest to the windshield. If so that is where one of the main grounds are for most of the trucks electronics

He had the driver side kick plate off when I grabbed my bag out of the truck. I mentioned that ground but I’m not sure it was taken too seriously. Never had any electrical problems with the truck, lightbar or subwoofer before.

That's typical for them not to take it seriously, but hopefully they check it. When I was doing some wiring work I took the panel off and the ground nut was loose but never had an issue thank god, so tightened it up

It’s under bumper to bumper so I’ll let them sweat it out.

Can anyone chime in on the wheel speed sensor? Doesn’t the entire hub assembly need replacing? Or am I thinking of something else?

Very common problem on these trucks.  It usually comes from a bad ground or battery cables.  The BCM gets low voltage and starts to throw all kinds of codes.  Eventually it will whip the electric steering out of your hands which is very scary when it happens!

Search the forums for things like "G218 ground", "electrical fix", and "PIT5405".  You will find a bunch of threads with instructions for the Techs and also easy ways for you to check the G218 BCM ground.

I’ve seen all those videos. Manager called back today said they replaced the sensor, cleaned the other 3 and that the other codes were a result of the diode and jumper I have for the fog lights with high beams and reverse with cargo in the bcm harness. I rolled my eyes but thanked him and now have to buy some new diodes.

Wonder if I should get my battery tested for the heck of it?
