2008 GMC 5.3 resinator delete

Hey guys i have a 2008 GMC Sierra 5.3. I have 3” pipe with a flowmaster muffler. I just ordered headers and im wondering if its work cutting out the resinator. Will it be any louder than it already is with 3”? And will i have any power increase? Thanks.

Yes and no. The res is more foe v4 mode and cold start. Your factory size and material will be quieter then say 304 stainless. Full length exhaust is bearable. But what of the cats?

Your headers will be loud enough regardless if the resonator is there or not.

i have a black bear tune, so the v4 mode isnt there anymore. so im just curious if i cut the resinator off if it will flow better and have a power increase.

they are only shorties. i would have got LTs but living in california, i need the cats. i was just curious if by cutting the resinator off if i would have a power increase, so it wouldnt be as restricted.

Got it.  They do make long tubes with cats and thought some are even CARB compliant.
