Interesting approach, I have the round valve too, and have wondered if there was a way it could be clamped just to see what the results would be.

Mine has been chirping but  not real bad. I'm at 32,000 miles is it worth getting fixed? Will a new one fix it or will it just do the same thing again down the road?

I have removed the flapper valve on my 2017 Sierra and it has seem to solved a lot of issues with my truck.  I was haveing a lack of low end power and transmission clunking once I removed the flapper valve it all went away and the truck now runs great!  It only has 40k km on it.

The flapper is a useless engineered restrictive gimick, I’ve noticed it creates too much back pressure from not opening the way it was intended being placed after the muffler and again after the exhaust gasses have slowed down passing through the muffler causing engine temp increase at least on my truck I’ve noticed...

Would anyone agree?

i will be deleting the flapper and the stock muffler and putting on a flowmaster 70 or a magnaflow with resonator still on after warranty is up next year. debating which would sound better with no in Cab drone noise.
Any suggestions?

thank you

I never noticed any problems with mine except a really aggravating little squeak every time it switched from V4-V8. But even with it clamped open like some have been doing, it is still rather restrictive. And the chances of it not giving more significant problems later on than a little squeak seems small to me. I cut out the stock muffler and flapper and put on a Flowmaster 50 Series Delta. I'm very happy with the sound, it has a nice deep sound at idle and is very muted and not obnoxious when driving. Even towing, it doesn't have drone or get too loud. I'm going to guess that the 70 Series is going to be so quiet that it's hard to tell the difference from stock.
