How would anybody here know with the information you originally posted? Options are a HUGE part of the pricing of any vehicle. Currently new Silverados CCs range from 27,000 to 65,000 plus. Also it’s not really a fair comparison IMO pricing Silverados against Sierras as every GMC I’ve looked at optioned out the same as Chevy is a couple grand more to start with, so GMC is always going to win the bigger discount award. But if you don’t care if you end up with one or the other great deals can be had with both.

Here is the window sticker for the Chevy

http://www.rayskillmanchevrolet.net/f_WindowSticker?VIN=3GCUKREC0JG290756&cs:o='window_sticker'&referrer=https://www.google.com/

Lose the 1300 wheel & the 2LT option and it would be a 35k truck at 10g off, 5g less than the GMC

A lot of money for some people. I rarely have seen any LTs much more than 10k off unless it’s some kind of blow out deal, LTZs 12k+ off isn’t that uncommon. Even at Laura you’ll notice the lower the sticker price the less the discount.

Next question is what are you driving now? If not a 014 or newer one of these trucks how much research have you done on them? A fair amount of Z71 owners NOT ALL complain about ride quality with the Ranch-o-junk shocks and IMO adding in 20” wheels ain’t going to make it any better. I’d just hate to see you on here next week asking why your new truck rides like a lumber wagon.

Just left the local Chevy dealer (Indiana) and they offered me a 2018 Z71 Silverado Crew Cab for $40,300 and another $1,000 off if I finance through GM.

Thoughts?

I would be careful with financing thru GM. I just bought a truck a few weeks ago and did that. The catch is the sales people will tell you that you will have a little higher interest rate than what is available like at ur local credit union or bank. They also told me that I would have to stay with GM for at least 4 months before refinancing. This turns out not to be true. They just want you to stay that long so the dealership can get that $1000 rebate money. I guess it takes about that long to get processed.

Around the DFW area rates were around 2% for what I was looking at doing. The sales person told me GM would be around 5.25%. I did the math and it would cost $100 more with the higher interest rate to stay the 4 months and then refi to the lower rate.

This is where the dealership gets crappy. When I went in to sign papers the finance guy tells me the rate is 6.14%. Begrudgingly I went ahead and signed papers knowing that I would refi in a few months. This sounded fishy to me, so the next week I called several other dealerships in the area and spoke to the finance dept. I just played dumb and inquired about the details on the $1000 rebate with financing thru GM. Everyone of them told me that with my credit score I would be looking at high 2's to low 3's. This really ticked me off.

Here is the second catch you might run into. I had already started asking around about refinancing. Selected a credit union that advertised 2.15% for 4 years, went in and got signed up. About a week later the jerk calls me up and says things are ready and we have you at 3.99%. I said BS, what about the 2.15? That's when he tells me that on a refi they can only lower you rate a max of 2% lower than what it currently is. I called BS on that as well and said I will take my business else where. I had spoken to 3 different loan jerks including the manger at this place. Told them exactly what I was doing and not one time did they mention the 2% max drop on a refi.  So if anybody is in the DFW area, stay away from FCACU.

So just do a little homework before you make a deal.

Thank you all for the responses so far - incredibly helpful.

I have been browsing the forum for a few weeks now, but I still clearly have a ton to learn. There are so many options, rebates, and nuances to buying a new truck - particularly when this will be my first truck purchase.

I am not set on a Silverado or a Sierra, but the prices at Lauras may make it impossible to not go that route.

Good to research before you buy!  You can also use this information to buy locally.  I understand that small local dealerships can't match the high volume dealers but may be able to come close enough.  Factor in travel, time , convenience  and relationship.  I walk into my local dealer and am greeted by name by sales, parts and service.  I know I've paid for this recognition but it is something I value.  Also, when I buy parts. I show them the best online price I can find.  If they can match or beat it, they will.  I'm not suggesting I would deliberately overpay for my vehicles, but I've yet to read/see a deal that makes me feel I didn't get a good price on my current, local truck!

I just spoke with the salesman for the Silverado and he doesn't think the prices at Laura can be real. He actually got fairly defensive.

That dealership is the largest in the state, so surprising they havent heard of them. Or they do and are mad I found them lol

Most dealers dont think their prices are real, or they have hidden rebates....etc... That is totally false, what you see on Lauras website IS the price EVERYONE pays, no gimmicks, no BS..... I just bought mine there 3 weeks ago..Their prices are REAL

You wont find a better deal anywhere else ..and I was told that buy a local GMC dealer who told me to buy it from them, since there was no way they could come close to that....they had no idea how they sell them so cheap

Has anyone here had any experience with Cardinal Buick and GMC in Belleville, Il. ? They are not far from Laura's.

I'm considering a new Sierra 1500 SLT and had been looking at Laura's prices. Cardinal has some prices that look even better then Laura's. They don't have the inventory that Laura has,  but I did find one that is in the color I want and is equipped with the premium plus package. Just wondered if anybody else has considered them.

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
