2016 Sierra Denali White Frost Tricoat Rust Spots?

I bought my truck brand new almost 2 years ago. 11k miles and I have noticed what appears to be small specks of rust on the paint and on the chrome on the running boards. After some research I guess I’m dealing with “rail dust”? What, if anything, can be done about this? I have taken very good care of my truck, meticulously wash it in the spring/summer and spray it off quite frequently in the winter. What gives?d394314be2b0d4386ba6add7fe565b1d.jpg

Get to the stealership before 12,000 miles. Let them see it and they ”should” take care of it. I forgot what chemical they will treat it with but the rail dust will go away. Rail dust is common with light colored vehicles(its easier to be seen) I have a 2018 Sierra with the white trifecta color, when I go to get my free oil change soon, I will point out the rail dust and see what they want to do.

Check the Autogeek forums for details, but what you are looking for is Carpro ironx spray and a mild grade clay bar. If you have the time and are willing, a full pro grade detail can make this paint really, really pop (I have it on my 2015 z71 ccsb slt). If not, seek a pro and pay a little for their time, materials and expertise. But for Pete’s sake, don’t let the dealership touch it. You will end up with swirls and holograms that will require a pros touch to correct.

Good luck!

I agree with not letting the dealership touch it.  Around here they have high schoolers doing their details on paint and interior.  They're not bad but itll pay to have someone who really knows what theyre doing take care of it.  I also highly recommend a ceramic coating.  Most detailers can do it.
