Denali suspension help

Recommended Posts

First post on here so hopefully I'm in the right place.

I just picked up a 2015 sierra denali 1500 crew cab with the magnetic ride system and I have figured out I will need to shut down the ride system to be able to install 9 inch lift. Having trouble figuring out the best route to do this. Any help here would be really appreciated

On a side note GM dealer just replaced the front struts under warranty yesterday so I will have a new set of magnaride struts for sale shortly.

I lowered my truck and deleted magnetic ride. I used 3 ohm 100 watt resistors that I made a plug-n-play harness for shock connectors. Got to have level sensors connected to suspension or it will set a fault when you drive. I shortened the links in the rear to keep level sensors connected. Kept front connected in stock form. No service suspension message on when truck is started.

Here is the resistor and the harness I used to connect to shocks. I cut the female side off and soldered it to resistor. Taped everything up with fabric tape that is made for underneath hood or vehicle. Harness is from mercedes-benz recall for cam magnets. Connector is waterproof like factory shock connectors. I will get pictures on truck .

I just had a front shock fail on me and the dealer called and said that both rears were leaking also. They want a whopping 3200 for all 4. Needless to say I’m not getting them. Might try the resistor first before going to much farther.

Did you use the Benz harness for the connector to the factory plug? If so what kind of harness was it ie what year cam mag harness

thanks

Yes the harness has a male and female connector that plug directly into shock connector. I cut the harness and used the male side to plug into body harness. If you go to any mercedes dealer, tell them you need four harnesses for cam magnet campaign. I will get you part numbers later. One other place might be Casper electronics. I’m not sure how much the harnesses cost, I got mine from old engine. I work at mercedes. Resistors are cheap on eBay. I seen the kit mentioned, but was way more than the $15 I spent.

Does anyone know the part number for the connectors on the shocks.  I found the male end on the wiring harness and its GM 1-823608-5 but the shock female end does not have a part number on it.

Or, if you are not ever using your factory shocks, cut off connectors and strip back shielding to expose wires to install resistors.

So I've had the resistors installed for about a week now. But just had one go bad already.  It got really hot and melted the shrink wrap around the wires.  Have you had any issues with the ones that you installed?

Thanks

Colton
