Replacement strut options

What are you guys using as a replacement strut for thr mangaride? Mine blew yesterday and looking for options

Not so easy to remove magnaride.  Finally found these modules so I can delete mine and do the lift I want.

If you want I have brand new oem magneride struts my local dealer just put on my truck 50 miles ago I'd sell ya

How many miles. Did they just start leaking fluid?

I’m at 46k and no i saw them wet since the last oil change

Bummer. They should have lasted longer that that!

I pulled my stock shocks and struts at 2k miles because of the crappy floaty boaty ride. I put bilstein 5100’s on myself for $330 + $100 alignment.

Rides stiffer but rebound is soooo much better on dips and bumps.

I do not have magna-ride but you have options if you don’t want to replace with factory shocks.

i changed my OEm "Rancho" shocks at 17k miles for the Bilstien 5100 as well, around the same $300 but I skipped on the alignment since nothing was removed that would affect alignment.

Out of curiosity, was wondering what you used to compress the front springs, during the replacement.  So far, haven't found anything beefy enough that I'd use on a truck application.

i used a $30 harbor freight spring compressor. It was too small for the safety pins to work. I just took my time, made sure Compressors were as even as possible and only compressed enough to release tension on the top nut. 

 

Of course use at your own risk. Finding a larger compressor would be ideal. The compressors auto parts stores rented were same as the harbor freight.

If you raised your truck at all with the 5100’s then you changed your toe and should get truck aligned. 

 

If you left 5100’s at stock height then you are prob ok.
