mtbadbob Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 This past winter, I slid into a parked truck in a convenient store parking lot. As I was sliding toward the parked truck, I hit my brakes pretty hard. Ever since then, I periodically experience a binding feeling when applying my brake, like their is something blocking the petal for a brief moment, then it'll function normally and the brakes will apply. This has cause me to nearly run into objects several times, and when pedal finally depresses, it's like slamming on the brakes hard, sending me forward as the truck stops abruptly. I looked up under the dash while manually depressing pedal with my hand, and cannot see anything causing restriction, but can feel a slight hard spot/bind when I do so. I have the LTZ w/adjustable pedals, so I'm unsure if it is linked to that in any way. Anyone else experience this similar problem?? Not sure I want to deal with the dealership, truck is approaching 60K, so bumper-to-bumper warranty is history.
1st diesel truck Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Possibly you may have slightly bent one of the brake pedal actuating bracketry rotating arms during the traffic collision to where one of the brackets are now getting hung-up in the moving cycle at say certain odd foot pressing angles periodically. < If so then one thought may be the arm bracket that goes through the firewall to the brake booster assembly could be getting caught up someway like maybe on the walls edge for instance. Have you tried moving the powered adjustable pedal assembly to see if it helps change or solve the feel of the binding sensation? Also can you feel the binding sensation only while the engine is running or turned off as well?
mtbadbob Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 Turned out my hydro boost went out already at a mere 60k. Funny how my '07 went 200k+ miles without replacing anything but a battery & 1 axle due to a torn boot, but I've went through a PS pump at around 24k, & now the booster at 60k. Discouraging when you special order a truck to your desires...
