SkippyG4 Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 So after one Indiana winter the wonderful road salt we use here they have rotted the wires away from the resistors and caused hyperflash to return. disgusted I ordered new wire harnesses for the left and right tails and decided to look for an option to not splice the nice new harnesses. I bought 2 from amazon. neither worked. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071JNHMP3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LW9ESCW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 really don't understand why i can't get either of these to work. I have not found any other option to not cut into the harnesses. Why would something like these not work? If the resistors work splicing into the factory harness why would they not work but just extending and adding the resistors? Thoughts? Anyone else have an idea or have found a harness with load resistor that works in a 2014?
wforrest08 Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Looks like those harnesses plug into the socket then the bulb. I’m sure you already tried rotating your bulb 180 degrees then/and rotating the socket end 180 degrees. I forget what they call this but some LEDs only work inserted one way and not the other, had this happen with my LED tag lights when I installed them neither one worked spun 180 both worked. Since your doubling the connections in this set up it might be finding the right combo. Not a cheap option but reprogram the BCM then no resistors needed (Whiteautoandmedia.com is one source for this but currently not taking new orders do to back log, it’s $250ish there is a list of other stuff they can do at the same time such as remove drls, power window up with fob, etc. also requires sending your BCM to them.I’m sure there’s others also reprogramming these as well since GM won’t) If your running the 016+ factory LEDs ( but it doesn’t look like you are? So an upgrade would be in order) this harness plugs in to the factory harness and the lights so your not splicing your factory harness. Never have figured out what kind of warranty you get with this harness but for the price I hope it’s a good one... http://www.gen5diy.com/Chevrolet/Silverado/P-P-Harness13/LED-Taillight-Harness9/ or make your own harness for a 1/3 the price I’d use the nice sealed resistors (like what HIDs come with if there’s room for them).
