Hitch drop shank for weight distribution system

Hello All, brand new to the forum and hoping to get some help. I have a 2016 yukon Denali, and we tow a travel trailer. A few weeks ago I ordered and received a weight distribution system for it, but I am running into a problem with the drop shank being way too high. For standard hitch drop I am using a 5 1/4" drop.

What drop are you guys using for weight distribution shanks? it looks like about a 7" drop shank is only going to actually drop the ball about 1-2". Not sure if I should actually be buying about a 11-13" drop shank! Link to the system I have is here - https://www.etrailer.com/Weight-Distribution/Reese/RP66086.html. The way the ball mounts on top of the bracket it is lifting it up really high, and with the placement of the hitches on these trucks it makes this difficult. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it depends on the manufacturer of your weight distribution system.  I use the Equalizer system and I believe they recommend that the trailer should be about level with the ground (0 degree pitch) once mounted on the hitchball.  In my opinion you should get a shank that is lower so you can achieve this.

My kit the ball top is supposed to be about 3/4-1" above the socket before putting the trailer on the ball for droop. I did turn it upside down, and doing some math this morning the bracket is raising the ball about 4" from the lowest drop of the shank. Crazy how high these suckers sit in the back, and the placement of the hitch behind the bumper makes it that much higher. I just ordered an 11" drop shank. Given I need 5-5 1/4" drop, and the bracket raises it about 4" then I should be good with an 11" drop.....I hope!

About ready to order the 2" lowering kit for the back of this thing.

Weigh safe is awesome, been using for some time now. With different carson the trailer, its so easy to nail the tounge weight. The adjustabilty up and down is great. They have 4"-10" drops.
