Dome light delay

My 17 silverado has an annoying delay in the dome light turning on when you open the door.  If you unlock the doors with the fob and open the door, the light comes on instantly.  However, when you just walk up to the already unlocked truck and open the door, the dome light takes about a second to come on.  Is this normal?  Just bugs me.

Not sure... But I'll check mine when I get cut loose from jury duty today. I usually keep my lights turned to the off position, to try and keep the bugs out in the summer time.

Same thing on my ‘17 Sierra. Bugs me too. My ‘03 Silverado came on instantly when you opened the door regardless of whether the fob was used or not. My guess is it’s more complex circuitry and relays that cause the delay.

Ok, after trial and error with my 17 Silverado LTZ crew cab, I was unable to reproduce this. I tried several times with the engine off and doors unlocked, and with engine running via remote start. I used the app and not the key fob for the remote start, so I can try that if you like, but running wasn't part of the op.

Either way, the dome light over my back seats come on as soon as I open the door.
