2019 3500HD Z71 Package Missing

I sat down with my salesman recently to build and order my 2019 3500HD.  He could not select the Z71 package in the Chevy order system.  I can do it on the online customer version, salesman couldn't figure out what the problem was.  Talked to him later and he said the 2019 HDs basically come with the Z71 suspension so it is not needed as an option.  I am not sure I believe this, is there any knowledge about this out there?

 

Also, what are your experiences with and without the Z71 for highway driving unloaded and loaded?

2019 3500 Silverado

Looks like Z71 availability depends on trim.

 

For the 3500 crew cab, from the order guide:

 

Z71         Z71 Package, Off-Road, (Requires 4WD model.), includes twin tube Rancho brand shocks, (JHD) Hill Descent Control, (NZZ) underbody shields. Also includes brushed metal Z71 door sill plate, unique Z71 gauge cluster, unique finish interior trim plates, unique lower bumper appearance, Z71 emblem in grille, Black mesh grille with 2 bar dark chrome inserts and Z71 pickup box decals
On LT - Requires all-terrain tires. Includes (T3U) fog lamps. Not available with (ZW9) pickup box delete or with dual rear wheels. 
On LTZ - Requires all-terrain tires. Not available with (ZW9) pickup box delete or with dual rear wheels.    

 

Shows not available on WT and High Country.

 

What trim was he working on?

We built both an LT and LTZ looking at various configurations.

 

More specifically Crew cab, 4WD, Gas, fifth wheel prep and some minor options.

 

LTZ was straight up LTZ, LT added All Star and LT+.

I would ask if it came with hill decent. The skid plate and shocks are cheap and easy if you want to add.

IMO, he should have been able to find it for both 2019  LT and LTZ 3500 crew.

Z71 shows up in the 'exterior section' rather the 'mechanical' section.

Z85, the standard suspension, show up in the mechanical section.

Don't know it the codes are located in the same type of sections on a dealer sales screen

Did you have the all terrain tires selected? That would appear to be the only restriction.

The Z71 does change the shocks and adds hill decent control as well as adding skid pads.

I could care less about the shocks and hill decent so I just added the skid plates to my std truck.

Seems like a different salesperson might be a good idea.

 

I'd be suspicious of other information as well.

That is my thought now too.  It should not be that hard and when it is they should not make stuff up.

Find a dealer that has a GM Certified Fleet Department - they know trucks inside and out as 90% of their business in in them.

I have used the same Fleet buyer for my last 3 trucks and he has never had any issues with placing my orders.

 

Now waiting for the trucks to be built and delivered - that is another story
