Torsion key bolt quick question

Picked up my 15 Sierra 2500hd Denali Tues and turned the torsion key bolts 6 full turns and gained maybe an inch. When I got the truck the front looked lower than most 2500s I've seen but not for certain. With 6 turns on the keys how much bolt should I have sticking out if it was previously set at stock height? Currently I have 3/4" of threads remaining on both sides.

not sure of the bolt but make sure you get it aligned when you get your height set

I plan on it. Once I get the level sorted I will be going in for tires and alignment.

Seems I have ready somewhere that you get .2" per turn of the bolt on the torsion key. I turned mine 7 turns and still have a slight rake to it.

Not sure what everyone experienced but mine settled some after driving it a short distance. Measured and cranked a little more for the desired change.

Crank, drive and check measurements again. I've had buddies bury the bolts to get the max lift. I think 2" is about the most guys here usually go when cranking.

Glad I found this thread,  I have a 15 3500 and was thinking about doing this.  There seems to be a big different in height and would like about 2" lift. But was hearing you had to buy the new Bar Kit?  Stocks can just be twisted?  Also if anyone has done this lift with a 2500lb payload how much will the backs settle?  I'd sure hate to be driving my new 3500 with the front pointing up when I am towing.

Thanks

Crank the stock torsion bar keys, see how high you need or want it. Some front shock extenders and an alignment. Leave some rake in the truck, so when you tow heavy, it won't be pointing skyward in the front.

Mine are pretty well buried and I am 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch lower in the front than the back.  Good enough!  Re-indexed aftermarket keys simply start you out partially cranked and let you turn the bar further than the stock key...  There is no magic to a torsion bar... its a spring that you determine rate and ride height by how much you twist it.  It's like guys saying aftermarket keys ride better than cranked stock keys..... no they don't dummy lol.  If you add other parts they can but you can do that with the stock keys too.  I may do cognito a arms if my uppers wear out quick but time will tell.    Re-indexed keys are mostly for the I want my front higher than the back crowd or guys that want blocks in the back.
