Clanking Upon Start Up and Acceleration

Hi, Guys!

I tried the search feature but could't find anything that seemed to match my issue. I am hearing a metallic clank as I start my 2017 Silverado's engine as well as when I accelerate, say from a stop sign or in traffic at low speeds. It feels like it's coming directly from under the cab of the truck. I have a double cab, V8, 5.3 Z71. 16,000 miles on it. Anyone have any thoughts? My first thought was drive shaft, but if so, why?

She's still well within warranty, but I want to know how urgent this may be. Setting up an appointment with the dealer is such a pain in the a$$ as they can never get you in right away. Then you are without a vehicle for a while. But if waiting until it's convenient could cause more serious issues, I'll set something up ASAP.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

If it is happening on start up then that would rule out the drive shaft since it isn't spinning.  Hard to say from what you described.  Best bet is to get it looked at.

If it is right under the cab, something in the flywheel hitting on something could be the culprit.

You are still under warranty. Do not waste time here.... take it to your dealer.

Thanks for the replies, guys! I'll get an appointment set up to get it in ASAP.
