jcgib81 Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 (edited) So I went in to have seatbelt tensioner recall done and the backup camera updated so that it doesn't wash out at night with the reverse lights. About two weeks prior to this my backup camera became fuzzy/Staticky. Just a heads up to anyone that has this static problem, it was caused by a cell phone charger in the console port. Not the usb ones but the 12 volt charger port. They showed me the service bulletin and sure enough when I use the cheap CVS charger in that spot the camera gets static. Talk about an easy fix. There was tons of talk online about camera wire, moisture etc. Nope. Cheap charger. Just FYI for those with same problem. Jim Edited October 12, 2018 by jcgib81
jerseytaylor Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Wow lol. Who wouldve guessed. Thanks for the heads up
Glasshole Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 My camera is terrible. I tried this and was unsuccessful. Hopefully it works for everybody else.
Texas GMCSierra owner Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Talked to my GMC advisor he didn't know about it, couldn't arrange a service call for almost a month, unplugged the cell phone charger and it went back crystal clear, who would have thought it was that easy
admyank Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Mine has turned from HD into something that has a wired antenna on the back of the TV. I don't have any of those chargers in my truck. I will probably check it again and see if it resets.
guyver60 Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 I didn't realize how bad mine looked until I got in my daughter's 2019 Honda Insight. The backup camera on that car looks like HD TV.
subieworx Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 GM's cameras in general are crappy. My C7 Corvette is every bit as bad as my 17 Denali.
jkbadz28 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 I had this same issue and it was my after market LED headlight bulbs. After getting the camera replaced and it not correcting the issue I for some reason thought to turn off the headlights and check it one morning. That was it. Put the factory bulbs back in and perfect !
jheath1988 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Hi, I know this is kinda an old thread, but I wonder on a Colorado with a Leer tonneau cap on, maybe the wiring from that is causing my rear camera picture to be fuzzy?
