2002 Monte Carlo

I have a 2002 Monte Carlo SS and the gauges stopped working and tonight my headlights would not go off, should I just replace the cluster or is there an underlying issue?

Well, firstly, this is a dedicated GM truck forum. Also, there are specific GM car and even Monte Carlo forums that would be better suited to your concerns. That said, I think you should have it properly diagnosed instead of just guessing at the problem.

Within the site there are sections for other discussion, readers other rides etc. Some people who own trucks own performance cars, sport cars, even motor cycles. I’ve seen threads discussing guns, computers, atvs. I wouldn’t be afraid to ask a question about anything here.

No doubt, I agree with your sentiments about the site being accommodating, but first post right out the gate about a unrelated car on a truck site seems a little spammy to me. It's been happening frequently on other forums I visit. I'm a owner of a Monte Carlo as well, and as such, am a member on an actual Monte Carlo forum, among others related to it. I guess if it were me, I'd check there first.

A bad BCM would cause this, and they went out a lot in those cars those years.

Diagnosis by wallet rarely ends well.  As said a couple of times, this sounds so specific that a Monte Carlo or even a Grand Prix site would be best place to start.
